Teacher Interactive Feature Guide

The main navigation menu is located in the top left corner of your screen. Click the three horizontal lines to expand the menu.


Table of Contents

You can find the table of contents for interactive editions on the top, left side of the page


When clicking on the Table of Contents you will see drop-down arrows next to each unit. The drop-down arrows show that the section will need to be expanded more to select a chapter and section 



Making annotations in the interactive notebook:


1.    Start by using your cursor to select and highlight the text you want to note (click and drag mouse).



2.    After successfully selecting the desired text the following annotation tools will appear on your screen


3.    To save an annotation, you will need to choose one of the four annotation styles and then click the blue save button:

  1. Highlight color - click the dropdown arrow to select from 8 different colors
  2. Underline text 
  3. Double underline text
  4. Circle text
Additionally, the annotation tool also gives you the option to label your notes using key words, ideas, or phrases.   



You can also add your own notes or comments to the annotated text using the note icon on the tool bar. Any text you type will then appear on the right side Notebook panel under the text you highlighted.



On the right-side Notebook panel, you can edit notes, add notes, and add labels by selecting the pencil icon in the lower right hand corner of the note.


Adding Notes to Annotations

You can also add notes and/or labels by selecting the green plus button, entering text and selecting or adding labels, and clicking on the blue save button in the bottom right corner of the note.

Deleting Annotations

To delete an annotation, select the trash can icon in the bottom right corner of the note. A confirmation message will appear to make sure you intend to delete the note. Click the blue delete button to confirm you want to delete the annotation.


Viewing Student Annotations

As the instructor, you can view individual student annotations by navigating to the Grading tab in the right panel and selecting the appropriate class. 


Select the student you would like to view annotations for and an eye icon will appear to show that you are viewing student work.


Then click on the Notebook tab to view any annotations the selected student has made. 


To return to your own Notebook and annotations, go back to the Grading tab and deselect the student, the eye icon should no longer appear. Then click the Notebook tab to see any notes you have made as the instructor.

Accessing the Immersive Reader function

  1. Navigate to the left of the screen and click on the red Immersive Reader Icon

  1. After clicking on the immersive reader icon, the following screen will appear. 

Text Preferences

  • Under the "Text Preferences" icon you have options to:
  • Text size
  • Spacing 
  • Font
  • Theme (screen contrast)
  • Source Formatting


Grammar Options

  • Under the "Grammar Options" icon you have options to:
  • Break words down by syllabification
  • Highlight the parts of speech and adjust what the color of text is shown as
  • After selecting a part of speech to highlight you can have it labeled by the part of speech selected 


Reading Preferences

  • Under the "Reading Preferences" icon you have options to:
  • Turn on, line focus
  • Turn on, the picture dictionary feature
  • Translate by word or document


Full Screen

  • To enter full screen mode select the arrow on the top, right-side of the screen. 


  • To exit full screen mode, you can press the esc key or click on the exit full screen mode icon in the top right-hand corner.

Voice Settings

  1. Click on the "Voice Settings" icon to adjust the voice speed and/or selection.

Play

  • Select the "Play" button to for the text to read aloud through the audio on your device.

Exiting Immersive Reader

You can exit the immersive reader feature by selecting the back arrow at the top, left-side of the page.
